3 seriously injured after crash in west Phoenix

The serious crash happened around 1:45 a.m. near 59th Avenue and Indian School Road.

PHOENIX — Three people have serious injuries after a west Phoenix crash early Saturday morning, according to city officials.

Around 1:45 a.m., officials were called to a crash near 59th Avenue and Indian School Road.

Upon arrival, two vehicles were involved in a crash.

The Phoenix Police Department said the driver of one of the involved vehicles fled the area, leaving an adult male passenger behind. The passenger was taken to the hospital by the Phoenix Fire Department with life-threatening injuries.

An adult man and an adult woman from the other vehicle were taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

No extrication was reportedly needed, according to Phoenix fire.

Preliminary information from the police suggests that the driver who fled the vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with the second vehicle.

Speed or impairment are unknown factors in the crash, police said.
