From giving hope to needing help: Albuquerque couple’s journey home

Anthony and Elizabeth Osborne, known for traveling across the country to help people experiencing homelessness, now find themselves without a home.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Anthony and Elizabeth Osborne, known for traveling across the country to help people experiencing homelessness, now find themselves without a home.

The couple began their mission after facing their own hardships and wanting to give back. They traveled from city to city, providing hot meals, clothing and support with the help of an RV donated by a church member.

“It humbled us and gave us greater respect for the homeless. We knew they had harder times, but we didn’t know how hard until we lived it,” said Anthony Osborne.

Their journey took a sudden turn when Anthony was diagnosed with brain cancer, requiring treatment. Elizabeth, who has type 2 diabetes, also relies on insulin.

“You gotta help people, or they are not going to survive,” said Elizabeth.

Medical costs forced the couple to pay out of pocket, eventually making it too expensive to keep their home. They returned to New Mexico from Texas and have been staying in a shelter since February.

“It was always something with the insurance and not being able to get our meds,” said Anthony.

Now, they hope the community can step up for them, just as they did for others while traveling the country.

“It just opened up our eyes a lot more, and it makes us, if we could raise enough to get in a place and anything else that’s left, we want to put back in and continue to help,” said Anthony.

The couple believes their experience has strengthened their belief that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
