SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – The Summit League Basketball Championships are a part of Sioux Falls. Every March, thousands of people come to the city to watch and participate in the action.
That love for basketball is a part of Sioux Falls as well.
The Sioux Falls Arts Commission is helping mark that culture in the city by installing vinyl basketball backboards in ten parks across the city.
Artist Les Cotton is creating a live mural at the tournaments this year, taking contributions and adding them to the final vision. Bringing together art and basketball.
“It’s just a great way to kind of meld the two together. Obviously, there’s arts involved with basketball, even if you don’t think about it, from a design aspect of it,” said Cotton.
You can find an interactive design lab inside the Sioux Falls Convention Center if you want to contribute your own art to the project.
