La ceremonia de los BAFTA Television Awards 2026 promete ser una noche destacada para el talento irlandés. Entre los nominados se encuentran Graham Norton, reconocido en la categoría de Entretenimiento por The Graham Norton Show, y Philippa Dunne, quien aspira al premio a Mejor Actriz en una Comedia por su papel en Amandaland.
El drama de Channel 4, Trespasses, basado en la novela de Louise Kennedy sobre un amor prohibido en Belfast durante los años 70, también ha sido reconocido en la categoría de Mejor Drama Limitado. La serie fue escrita por la guionista irlandesa Ailbhe Keogan y producida por Maria Mulhall, de Donegal.
El talento irlandés también está presente en las categorías infantiles, con el director Seamus Malone nominado por Shaun the Sheep. Además, el director dublinés Diarmuid Goggins ha sido nominado con Code of Silence en la categoría de Drama Series.
La serie de Belfast Blue Lights también ha recibido una nominación en la categoría de Drama Series, y su protagonista, Siân Brooke, compite por el premio a Mejor Actriz Principal.
En cuanto a las nominaciones, Adolescence lidera con un total de siete, seguido de A Thousand Blows con tres. Blue Lights, Amandaland, Big Boys y What It Feels Like for a Girl son otras de las producciones con una fuerte presencia en la lista de nominados.
La gala de los BAFTA Television Awards con P&O Cruises se celebrará el domingo 10 de mayo y estará presentada por Greg Davies. Además de las nominaciones principales, BAFTA ha anunciado por separado las nominaciones a los premios de Televisión Artesanal, donde Adolescence también ha destacado.
Entre los actores nominados se encuentran Colin Firth por Lockerbie: A Search for Truth, Stephen Graham por Adolescence, Jodie Whittaker por Toxic Town, Erin Doherty por A Thousand Blows y Rose Ayling-Ellis por Reunion.
