This morning several sightings of a mountain lion passing through the greenway area of downtown Sioux Falls were reported to the Sioux Falls Police Department. Sioux Falls Animal Control has worked with the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish, and Parks and verified the photos and videos depict that of a young mountain lion. We share this information out of an abundance of caution. Mountain lions occasionally pass through the area and it’s likely this one is doing just that. The last reported sighting was in 2023 on the southwest side of Sioux Falls.
