Charleston, S.C. – The Youngstown State men’s tennis team won the doubles point and Oscar Gippet remained unbeaten this spring in a 5-2 loss to Charleston on Saturday at the Turner Tennis Center at Patriots Point.
YSU falls to 9-3 on the season while the Cougars improve to 6-3.
In doubles, the Penguins had wins at No. 1 and No. 3 to earn the point. At No. 1, Dominik Vonbank and Matteo Ceradelli picked up a 7-6 (5) victory. At No. 3, Alex Woiten and Takamasa Mishiro collected a 6-4 win.
In singles, Gippet picked up a 7-6 (5), 6-1 win at No. 4 singles. Gippet is 8-0 in completed singles contests this spring and is 18-2 on the season.
The Guins lost in three sets at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. The Cougars won in straight sets at No. 1, No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
The Penguins open Horizon League play on March 21 when they visit Northern Kentucky.
