Guenther lidera los primeros libres en Jeddah: Resultados FP1

Maximilian Guenther lideró los primeros entrenamientos libres en el circuito urbano de Jeddah, mostrando su intención de luchar por la victoria después de haber ganado la carrera inaugural en este mismo trazado la temporada pasada.

El piloto alemán marcó un tiempo de 1m15.714s, seguido de cerca por Pascal Wehrlein (Porsche) en segundo lugar y Jake Dennis (Andretti) en tercer puesto. Edoardo Mortara (Mahindra Racing) se situó en la cuarta posición, mientras que Mitch Evans (Jaguar TCS Racing) completó el top cinco.

Las condiciones de la pista son muy representativas de las que se esperan para la carrera de mañana, que comenzará a las 20:05 hora local.

La sesión estuvo marcada por algunos incidentes, con varios pilotos obstaculizando a otros en la pista, incluyendo al campeón mundial Oliver Rowland (Nissan) y a Taylor Barnard (DS PENSKE), que estuvieron a punto de colisionar en los momentos finales.

La sesión comenzó a las 20:00 hora local, con casi todos los pilotos saliendo a la pista, excepto Lucas di Grassi, quien prefirió practicar el PIT BOOST.

Taylor Barnard (DS PENSKE) expresó temprano preocupaciones sobre el equilibrio de su coche, comentando por radio: “Al salir de las curvas izquierdas, inicialmente el balance es bueno, pero a medida que aumenta la velocidad, tengo más subviraje”. Barnard logró la Julius Baer Pole Position en su debut en este circuito la temporada pasada.

A la mitad de la sesión, Nico Müller (Porsche) lideraba la tabla de tiempos con un registro de 1m16.261s, seguido por Pepe Martí y Dan Ticktum (CUPRA KIRO).

En los últimos diez minutos, Norman Nato (Nissan) se colocó al frente, con el ganador de la carrera de Miami, Mitch Evans (Jaguar TCS Racing), en segundo lugar.

Al final de la sesión, Martí tuvo un incidente con Jean-Eric Vergne, obstaculizando al bicampeón en la última vuelta. El novato se disculpó inmediatamente, pero el incidente fue notado por los comisarios. Rowland y Barnard también tuvieron un malentendido en los últimos momentos de los 40 minutos de sesión.

Saudi Arabia has been a staple of the Formula E calendar since Season 5, and found a new home at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit last season. The double-header weekend promises plenty of action and the return of PIT BOOST, all whilst racing under the lights at night over February 13 and 14.
