Janet Longfellow Wolf
Janet Longfellow Wolf of Marion died on March 5, 2026. She was age 71.
During Janet’s early life she lived in Washington D.C. and Germany with her father, Donald Longfellow, MD, who was a U.S. military ophthalmologist, along with her mother Kathleen. They next moved to California for a couple of years, then to Phoenix, Ariz., where Janet attended grade and Brophy high school. She attended and graduated from St. Mary’s College of South Bend, Ind., which lies across the highway from the University of Notre Dame, where she attended some Notre Dame classes. She was a member of the Notre Dame crew team and received a Notre Dame letter jacket, the same as Notre Dame varsity athletes.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas J. Wolf Jr. of Marion, who is originally from Harrisburg. They met at Notre Dame, but then each went their separate way. Janet later met William R. Godfrey at Notre Dame,
married and had three children, Jennifer Godfrey; and both Kathleen Godfrey (Carlos Ruiz) and William Godfrey (Will), of Washington DC. Will and his wife, Sarah Camille, have three young boys, being Liam, James and Philip. Janet and Mr. Godfrey subsequently divorced, and she then reacquainted with and married Thomas J. Wolf Jr. They have two children, Thomas R. Wolf of Arizona, who lives in Phoenix with his love, Sierra Wolf, and their two young boys, Lochlan and Calahan. Julie C. Wolf of Marion has a son, Jayden Hubbs, who is very special to Tom, along with his father, Jeremy Hubbs. Janet has three brothers Bill, Don and Tom Longfellow, along with their spouses and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Stricklin Funeral Home of Harrisburg on Saturday, March 21, first family from 9 to 10 a.m., next for everyone from 10 a.m. to noon. Mass will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Harrisburg at 12:30 p.m., then to Harrisburg’s Sunset Lawn Cemetery on the far west side where Tom’s family is buried.
