CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (WSIL) – Residents in Cape Girardeau will have a chance to meet a candidate running for mayor during an upcoming community event.
According to campaign materials, Robbie Guard, a candidate for mayor of Cape Girardeau, will host a public meet-and-greet later this month.
The event is scheduled for Monday, March 16 at 2 p.m. at Saxony Village, located at 2825 Bloomfield Road. Organizers say admission is free and light refreshments will be provided.
Guard is described in campaign materials as a fifth-generation resident of the city, a graduate of Cape Central High School and Southeast Missouri State University, and a local business leader. He previously served on the Cape Girardeau City Council and has volunteered on several community boards.
Organizers say the meet-and-greet will give residents an opportunity to hear Guard’s vision for the city, focused on transparency, growth and citizen engagement, as well as ask questions about issues affecting the community.
