PORTLAND, Ore. — After several rounds of heavy rain, conditions across northwest Oregon and southwest Washington are beginning to improve Saturday morning as the tail end of an atmospheric river moves out of the region. According to the National Weather Service, most of the steady rain is expected to exit by mid-morning, leading to drier conditions for much of the rest of the weekend. A few lingering showers are still possible near the coast, Coast Range, Cascades, and nearby foothills, but overall, the trend is toward improving weather through the day.
Despite the improving conditions, a Flood Watch remains in effect through Saturday afternoon. Creeks, rivers, and streams are still running high after the recent rainfall, and additional runoff could cause flooding in low-lying or flood-prone areas. Urban areas with poor drainage could also see minor flooding if any heavier showers develop.
Looking ahead, most of the weekend should stay relatively quiet once the rain ends Saturday morning. By early next week, warmer air is expected to move into the region, pushing daytime temperatures into the 60s and possibly near 70 degrees inland. However, the dry stretch may not last long, forecast models suggest another round of rain could return by the middle of next week, continuing a spring-like pattern across the Pacific Northwest.
