Antes de convertirse en el centro de una trágica noticia, Renee Good era una escritora. En 2020, ganó un premio de la Academia de Poetas Americanos por su poema, “On Learning to Dissect Fetal Pigs” (Sobre el aprendizaje de la disección de cerdos fetales). El poema, ingenioso y con toques de humor, explora su intento por reconciliar la ciencia y la fe, preguntándose: “¿Puedo dejar que ambas existan?”.

i repeated & scribbled until it picked its way & stagnated somewhere i can’t point to anymore, maybe my gut—
maybe there in-between my pancreas & large intestine is the piddly brook of my soul.
