Denver breaks monthly heat record for 3rd time in a week

Denverites on Wednesday slogged through the hottest March day on record for the third time in a week as temperatures hit the high 80s across the state, with the heat reaching into the 90s in some Colorado communities.

Denver International Airport sensors logged a record-breaking 88 degrees at 2:50 p.m., busting the previous monthly record highs of 86 degrees (set Saturday) and 85 degrees (set March 19.)

Before this year, the hottest March day on record was 84 degrees on March 26, 1971, according to the National Weather Service.

Wednesday’s weather also shattered Denver’s daily record high for March 25, which was 75 degrees in 2012.

The recent stretch of sweltering spring days is thanks to a gigantic heat dome that is moving east slowly. Meteorologists and weather historians say it may end up being one of the most expansive heat waves in American history, according to The Associated Press.

Weather stations across Colorado logged temperatures well into the 90s on Wednesday, including 96 degrees in Greeley and Mack; 94 degrees in Fountain, Florence and Pueblo; 92 degrees in Denver and Southglenn; 91 degrees in Loveland; and 90 degrees in Lakewood, Aurora, Longmont and Fort Collins.

Colorado is one of 14 states that have seen their hottest March day on record this month, and a group of international climate scientists called World Weather Attribution said this week a heat wave of this magnitude “would have been virtually impossible without human-induced climate change.”

Denver is set to see a brief cooldown Friday, with highs in the 50s, before warm weather returns this weekend, forecasters said.

Measles case confirmed in DIA passenger who visited Littleton

by Diego Ramírez – Managing Editor febrero 25, 2026

A person with a confirmed case of the measles traveled through Denver International Airport and attended a church service in Littleton over the weekend while they were infectious, Colorado public health officials said Tuesday.

The passenger arrived in Denver at 9:15 a.m. Saturday on Frontier flight 1279 from Miami, which landed at gate A83, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment said in a news release.

Anyone in the area between 9:15 a.m. and noon may have been exposed.

The traveler then attended a service and reception at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 6853 S. Prince St. in Littleton, between 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday, and returned to DIA on Sunday night, where they departed on Frontier flight 1280 to Miami from gate A76 at 11:29 p.m.

Anyone at the airport between 9:30 p.m. Sunday and 1:30 a.m. Monday may have been exposed, the department said.

“Passengers who were potentially exposed on either of the flights will be notified directly by their state or local public health agency,” public health officials said. “Because the passenger is fully vaccinated, the risk of transmission is lower but still possible.”

Public health officials are providing free measles vaccinations to people who potentially were exposed at the church service starting Wednesday morning. Vaccination clinics will be at 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Arapahoe County Public Health Department, 8457 S. Broadway in Englewood; and from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Measles is a highly infectious but preventable disease with symptoms including fever, cough, runny nose and red eyes, which are followed by a rash that starts several days later on the face and spreads.

Receiving a vaccine within 72 hours of being exposed may prevent measles or reduce the severity of symptoms, state officials said.

Colorado recorded 36 measles cases in 2025, the most the state has seen in a single year since at least 1996.

Most of the 2025 cases were among unvaccinated people, according to state public health data.

One measles case has been reported in Colorado in 2026 and was in Arapahoe County, CDPHE’s measles dashboard shows.

Oficinas en Denver en Receivership: Crisis en el Mercado Inmobiliario

by Editora de Negocio febrero 20, 2026
