A Des Moines man was charged Thursday after police said investigators serving a search warrant at his home found evidence showing him engaged in sexual activity with a dog.Derek Adam Hartline II, 32, was charged with bestiality, an aggravated misdemeanor, according to the Des Moines Police Department.The search took place Thursday morning at a residence near East Madison Avenue and Bowdoin Street, police said.According to police, the warrant was executed as part of an ongoing Special Victims Unit investigation that began when detectives received a cybertip in June 2025 from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
