FARGO — More than 40 people gathered on bridges across Fargo on Sunday, March 1, to protest recent U.S. and Israeli military attacks in the Middle East.
Protesters stood along the Veterans Memorial Bridge near downtown Fargo and on the pedestrian bridge over Interstate 94 near University Drive, holding signs visible to passing traffic.
The demonstration was organized by Red River United Indivisible, a local activist group that has held several protests in the Fargo-Moorhead area over the past year. Organizers called for the pop-up protest shortly after news broke of military operations overseas.
Many participants held signs reading “No War in Iran,” while others called for the release of documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Some protesters said they decided to participate after learning that three U.S. service members were killed during the operation.
“People need to contact their congresspeople and let them know how they feel about this, because it’s happened overnight without the public’s input and congressional input,” protester Allison Wallace said.
Organizers encouraged community members to contact elected officials to voice their opinions on U.S. military involvement abroad.
