MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) – A vehicle fire has shut down part of Interstate 65 South near Hope Hull, according to ALGO Traffic.
The right southbound lane and shoulder just past Exit 164 at U.S. 31/Mobile Highway are currently closed.
The Pintlala Fire Department and Montgomery Fire/Rescue responded to the scene where they found the fire involving a commerical vehicle with the “potential to escalate into a hazardous materials incident.”
Firefighters with PFD and MFR suppression and HazMat units were able to contain the fire to the cab of the vehicle. The tank remained intact, and there were no reported injuries.
Drivers are advised to seek an alternate route as traffic on I-65 South near mile marker 160 will remain backed up for an undetermined amount of time.
