Crisis at STVR: Artist Boycott Threatens Latest Productions
The Slovak Television and Radio (STVR) is facing a significant operational challenge as a growing number of artists refuse to collaborate with the public broadcaster. This wave of opposition has already impacted upcoming projects, specifically placing a new STVR series in jeopardy after figures such as Kronerová, Bárta and Daniš declined to participate, with more artists reportedly joining the boycott.

The management of STVR has responded to these developments, characterizing the calls to reject cooperation as «unfair.» Martina Flašíková, the General Director of STVR, has urged against the polarization of society in response to the intensifying pressure from the artistic community.
The institutional tension has also manifested internally. Markovský, a music editor, used an STVR broadcast to publicly criticize both Flašíková and the Minister of Culture, Martina Šimkovičová, stating that he would not leave his position quietly.
This climate of instability coincides with a broader debate regarding whether the opposition should boycott the public broadcaster, a move that some actors have already begun to implement.
