HUNTSVILLE — The Bearkats return home this weekend to continue conference play in a three-game series against New Mexico State at the Bearkat Softball Complex.
Sam Houston (16-12, 2-1 CUSA) holds a 3-12 all-time record against the Aggies (13-13, 3-0 CUSA), with the programs first meeting in 1998. The Bearkats carry a one-game winning streak in the matchup after defeating New Mexico State 5-3 in the postseason last year in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Freshman Sophia Lundstrom continues to make an impact for the Bearkats, batting .398 with seven doubles and 37 hits this season. Veronica Harrison leads the team with a .800 slugging percentage, along with 25 RBIs and 10 home runs.
The Bearkats and Aggies will open the series Friday at 6 p.m., followed by a 3 p.m. game Saturday and a 12:30 p.m. first pitch Sunday.
