Chu Han Lee, 61, of Oakland, NJ, passed away peacefully on the morning of February 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on December 12, 1964, in South Korea, Chu was the firstborn son and eldest child of Ki Bun and Chong Ho Lee. He immigrated with his family to the United States in February of 1980. Raised in Edison, he was a proud graduate of Edison High School.
During his adolescent years, Chu found great joy and camaraderie participating in the Easter Seals program. Throughout his life he was a member of Special Olympics and a valued member of its Passaic County Bowling Team in later years.
Chu was widely known for his infectious smile, which truly reflected his optimistic and joyous spirit. He possessed a deep love for dance and had a special affinity for 80s music, with Michael Jackson being a particular favorite. He enjoyed riding his bike around town, especially to and from the local church, and cherished socializing with everyone in his neighborhood. Chu was without a doubt a loveable character and there are no words to describe how he touched the lives of so many. In recent years, he lived at the Oakland Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Oakland, NJ. Chu spent his final days comfortably under the exceptional hospice care at Chilton Medical Center in Pompton Plains, NJ.
