Springfield wears green for downtown St. Patrick’s Day parade

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) -The celebrations kicked off Saturday with the St. Patrick’s Day parade in downtown Springfield.

The parade route changed this year due to construction. It started at South Avenue heading north into Park Central Square, and ended at Jefferson Street.

There was live music, family-friendly fun for all ages, and a special beer garden with Finnegan’s Wake on the square.

“It really is a great event for Springfield. Wanting to showcase downtown, Commercial Street, and all the amazing small businesses that we have, and our local businesses here,” said Crystal Quade, executive director of the Downtown Springfield Association. “But it’s also kind of a kickoff for all the future events that we’re going to have throughout the summer and fall. Of course, we have Route 66 coming up right around the corner. So Saint Pat’s is really the kickoff for all of these really exciting things happening.”

The parade was managed by the Downtown Springfield Association with support from Finnegan’s Wake, Penmac Staffing, and the Downtown Community Improvement District.
