Nebraska en el NCAA: Histórica victoria sobre Troy (76-47)

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – El equipo de baloncesto masculino de Nebraska hizo historia el jueves por la tarde. Los Huskers derrotaron a los Troy Trojans 76-47 en la primera ronda del Torneo de la NCAA. Esta victoria marcó la primera vez que Nebraska gana un partido en el Torneo de la NCAA.

Joyce Edwards, South Carolina star avoid another March Madness slump?

Joyce Edwards is leading the No. 1 seeded South Carolina Gamecocks into her second NCAA Tournament.
Edwards has stepped into a larger role this season following the departure of one forward and an injury to another.
The sophomore forward is averaging 19.6 points per game and scored her 1,000th career point this season.
Coach Dawn Staley noted that Edwards looks more seasoned and understands her power on the court.

COLUMBIA — Bree Hall got just one season with Joyce Edwards but it was enough to know that the 6-foot-3 forward would greatly benefit South Carolina women’s basketball in the future.

After UConn’s dominant 82-59 national championship win over South Carolina last April, Hall, then a senior, was asked what she learned about Edwards, who had just finished her first Women’s NCAA Tournament as a freshman.

«She’s an incredible player,» Hall said. «She’s going to come back for more, it’s not over for her at all.»

Now nearing 12 months later, Edwards is leading the No. 1 seeded Gamecocks (31-3) heading into her second NCAA Tournament.

The sophomore leads South Carolina with 19.6 points per game heading into the first round on March 21 (1 p.m. ET, ABC), against the winner of either Samford or Southern, both No. 16 seeds.

Joyce Edwards struggled in 2025 March Madness

South Carolina coach Dawn Staley has seen Edwards lead the team in scoring since her arrival on campus, breaking out as a freshman with an average of 12.7 points per game.

But then in the second round of last year’s tournament, Edwards’ offensive dominance took a harsh pause.

She went from 22 points in the opening round vs. Tennessee Tech to a season-low five against Indiana in the second round, finishing 2-of-8 from the field with five turnovers.

South Carolina’s upperclassmen carried the Gamecocks through Edwards’ shooting struggles. She scored six points in the Sweet 16 against Maryland and a career-low four in the Elite Eight win over Duke.

Then, with help from going 5-of-6 from the free throw line, Edwards had 13 points and 11 rebounds in the Final Four victory over Texas.

She capped off her freshman year with 10 points and five rebounds in the title game loss to UConn.

And a lot has changed since she left that court in Tampa, Florida.

Joyce Edwards sophomore season with South Carolina

When Ashlyn Watkins announced she wasn’t playing this season, Edwards’ role immediately shifted, increasing her likelihood at starting with one forward officially out. Then Chloe Kitts tore her ACL in October, giving Edwards an even bigger role.

Down two veteran forwards, Edwards stood beside the only returning starter in point guard Raven Johnson, and joining Tessa Johnson and transfers Ta’Niya Latson and Madina Okot.

By her first 20-point performance, which came in the second game of the season against Bowling Green, there was something different about the sophomore version of Edwards.

Her post moves were multi-dimensional, giving her offensive more creativity and her teammates more options knowing she had a greater trust in what she could do inside the paint.

She’s since had 19 games scoring over 20 points, highlighted by the career-high 34 points against USF on Dec. 18. She scored her 1,000th career point on Feb. 5, reaching the milestone in 64 games, five fewer than Gamecocks legend A’ja Wilson.

Miami (Ohio) March Madness opponent is SMU in 2026 NCAA bracket

It’s official: The Miami RedHawks are dancing for the first time since 2007. The RedHawks are set to face 11-seeded Southern Methodist University (SMU) in the First Four of the 2026 NCAA Tournament at UD Arena. The game will be played on Wednesday, March 18. The time is to-be-determined.

Miami University men’s basketball wrapped up a record-shattering regular season in 2025-2026. At 31-0 before the Mid-American Conference Tournament, the RedHawks became just the 25th team to ever complete an undefeated regular season. The RedHawks set program records for longest overall winning streak, home winning streak, road winning streak and most wins in a season. Miami also won the MAC regular-season title, the program’s first title in 21 years.

While many teams experienced significant roster overhaul in the offseason, the RedHawks were able to retain nearly all of their key players from last season. Led by 2026 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year Peter Suder, Miami had seven players average double-figure scoring; all but one were returners from a year ago. Travis Steele was able to protect his roster from transfer-portal raiding and it paid off. Steele was named the MAC Coach of the Year, is a finalist for two national Coach of the Year Awards, and led his RedHawks to the NCAA Tournament.

The Iowa Hawkeyes are once again in the postseason, competing in the NCAA women’s tournament. This year, they are back near the top and hosting the first two rounds at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa.

By reaching the Big Ten Tournament final and earning a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament, Jan Jensen has announced that this is her Iowa program and it has staying power.

Up next for Iowa (26-6, 15-3) is the 15th-seeded Fairleigh Dickinson Knights on Saturday, March 21. Fairleigh Dickinson, from the Northeast Conference, is 30-4 (18-0 NEC).

Will Colorado State make the NIT? Here’s what to know

Does the season continue?

The Colorado State men’s basketball team knows it won’t be picked for the 2026 NCAA Tournament, but the Rams have said they want to keep playing.

That chance would most likely come via NIT. Here’s what to know about the NIT selection process and timing and if the Rams might be in.

How is the NIT bracket selected?

The 32-team tournament is by invite from a committee.

Sixteen «exempt» teams make up half of the field. Four spots are taken up by top teams from the ACC and SEC not selected for the NCAA tournament field, while the remaining 12 «exempt» spots go to the top team in the top 12 conferences, based on the KenPom Rankings.

The remaining 16 spots are automatic bids for conference regular season champions that have a «KNIT» score of 125 or better and at-large teams of the best available teams that did not make it into the tournament.

All that said, there are other factors, too. Some teams in recent years have opted out of non-NCAA Tournament postseason invites. Belmont, for instance, has said it will not take part this year.

CSU coach Ali Farokhmanesh and players have said the Rams want to continue playing, if possible.

When is the NIT bracket announced?

The 32-team field will be announced at 7:30 p.m. Mountain March 15, according to the NIT’s social media channels.

There is no TV selection show, but the selections will be announced on the NIT’s social media pages.

Will Colorado State be in the NIT?

CSU is No. 86 in KenPom. The Rams are seventh in the MW in KenPom, so there could be some competition from within the league for NIT spots.
