Kansas basketball vs TCU final score, highlights: KU advances with win

by Diego Ramírez – Managing Editor marzo 13, 2026
written by Diego Ramírez – Managing Editor

Updated March 12, 2026, 11:10 p.m. CT

KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Kansas basketball and TCU faced off Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Conference’s men’s tournament, and KU came away with a 78-73 win.

The Jayhawks were the No. 3 seed for this matchup, and the Horned Frogs the No. 6 seed. Kansas had to battle inconsistent play over the course of the matchup, but was able to outlast a tough TCU team that arrived as one of the hottest in the nation. The Jayhawks advance to the semifinals of the conference tournament, with a game on Friday against the No. 2 seed, Houston.

RELATED: Kansas basketball vs TCU start time, TV schedule, streaming info

Here is what happened inside the T-Mobile Center:

UPDATE: 11:08 p.m. (CT): FINAL: Kansas 78, TCU 73

UPDATE: 10:45 p.m. (CT): Kansas leads 64-61 with 5:26 left in 2nd Half

Tre White just hit a huge 3-pointer for the Jayhawks, who now lead by three points with about five and a half minutes left in regulation. KU does have to finish this half knowing that Flory Bidunga has four fouls, but at least for now it holds a slim lead. Losing Bidunga would put Kansas in a tough spot on both ends of the court.

Expert MLB daily picks: Unique MLB betting insights only at USA TODAY

UPDATE: 10:37 p.m. (CT): TCU leads 59-57 with 7:15 left in 2nd Half

It’ll be interesting to follow how TCU handles its foul trouble here late, with Micah Robinson and Xavier Edmonds each having four fouls. Both players are starters for the Horned Frogs, who hold a two-point lead with a little more than seven minutes left in the second half. Kansas’ foul trouble is centered on Tre White and Flory Bidunga, who each have three fouls.

UPDATE: 10:21 p.m. (CT): TCU leads 48-47 with 11:48 left in 2nd Half

Something to note here, on top of the fact KU is now down just one point and will have the ball coming out of this break, the Jayhawks are also in the bonus. So far tonight, the Jayhawks are shooting 12-for-17 from the free throw line. TCU is not that close to being in the bonus right now, and for the game is 6-for-9 from the free throw line.

UPDATE: 10:13 p.m. (CT): TCU leads 47-41 with 14:01 left in 2nd Half

A defensive lapse just now from Darryn Peterson led to a wide open 3-pointer for TCU, which the Horned Frogs hit to go up six points with about 14 minutes left in the second half. Kansas just has no momentum right now on the offensive end, failing to take advantage of the issues TCU’s experienced itself on offense, too. KU coach Bill Self called a timeout to force this break, to talk things over with his team, and time will tell if how the Jayhawks come out of the timeout will lead him to being any less frustrated than he is right now.

UPDATE: 10:06 p.m. (CT): Kansas and TCU are tied 40-40 with 15:40 left in 2nd Half

If Kansas fans were looking for their team to go on an early run in the second half, and make this not a stressful watch, that hasn’t happened. Both teams are struggling to hit shots right now, and the score is tied at 40-40 with a little less than 16 minutes left in regulation. Kansas might have a slight advantage rebounding right now, and with second-chance points, but the Jayhawks do still need to improve defensively at not giving TCU extra possessions.

UPDATE: 9:40 p.m. (CT): HALFTIME: TCU 34, Kansas 31

UPDATE: 9:28 p.m. (CT): Kansas leads 28-23 with 4:16 left in 1st Half

Darryn Peterson just nailed a 3-pointer to push Kansas’ lead to 28-23 with a bit more than four minutes remaining in the first half. The Jayhawks are on a 12-0 run right now, as TCU hasn’t scored in more than three minutes. Peterson is up to seven points, and he leads KU in scoring at this point.

UPDATE: 9:19 p.m. (CT): TCU leads 23-16 with 7:06 left in 1st Half

Kansas coach Bill Self was shaking his head recently as Flory Bidunga exited the game with a second foul in the first half, but now he’s having to turn to him again in this first half considering how poor the Jayhawks are playing. KU trails by seven points with about seven minutes left before halftime. Kansas has only hit one of its last nine shots from the field.

UPDATE: 9:07 p.m. (CT): TCU leads 12-11 with 11:28 left in 1st Half

Kansas had been getting away with some lackluster effort on offense, but now TCU’s shots are falling and the Horned Frogs hold a slim lead with about 11 and a half minutes left in the first half. KU coach Bill Self has been routinely getting upset at what’s been happening on the offensive end for his Jayhawks. Darryn Peterson is going to the free throw line after this break, and if he hits those attempts it’ll be his first shots of the game.

UPDATE: 8:58 p.m. (CT): Kansas leads 7-0 with 15:52 left in 1st Half

TCU has gone more than four minutes without scoring, and Kansas leads 7-0 with a little less than 16 minutes left in the first half. Darryn Peterson hasn’t scored yet for the Jayhawks, but they haven’t needed him to be a force offensively just yet. Melvin Council Jr., who’s hit a 3-pointer, leads all scorers with five points.

by Editora de Negocio marzo 11, 2026
written by Editora de Negocio

11 de marzo de 2026, 11:41 a.m. CT

by Editor de Deportes marzo 9, 2026
written by Editor de Deportes

22. Denver Nuggets: Joshua Jefferson, Iowa State

24. Houston Rockets: Karim Lopez, New Zealand Breakers (NBL)

written by Editora de Entretenimiento

Tercer cuarto: UConn 82, Creighton 38

Medio tiempo: UConn 57, Creighton 22

Primer cuarto: UConn 29, Creighton 9

Iowa at Nebraska picks and predictions

Prediction

Nebraska 73, Iowa 64

PASS.

I believe the Cornhuskers (-275) end their regular season with a home victory on Senior day in Lincoln.

BET NEBRASKA -6.5 (-118).

Nebraska looks like a solid bounce-back spot against Iowa. The Cornhuskers are coming off a tough loss to UCLA, but had won 3 of their previous 4 games, scoring at least 74 points in each of those wins. Defense is where Nebraska really separates itself. The Cornhuskers rank first in defensive efficiency in the Big Ten, forcing turnovers, rebounding well and holding opponents to just 29% shooting from 3-point range.

Iowa, meanwhile, has struggled offensively for a while now. The Hawkeyes haven’t shot better than 32.1% from deep in their last 8 games and haven’t scored more than 76 points since early February. Over the last month, Iowa is shooting just 27.8% from 3 while allowing 50% overall shooting and 42% from beyond the arc on defense.

Nebraska also has a balanced offense, shooting 37% from 3, 56.2% from 2 and 78% from the free-throw line. If this game turns into a scoring battle, Iowa hasn’t shown the offense lately to keep up.

BET UNDER 134.5 (-110).

I lean toward the Over in this matchup. Even though the first meeting this season stayed Under, the previous 7 of the 9 matchups between Iowa and Nebraska went Over the total. The trends are a bit mixed lately, which is why it’s more of a lean. Iowa is 5-5 against the total in its last 10 games, while Nebraska is 4-4 in its last 8. Nebraska’s defense can limit Iowa’s outside shooting, but the Cornhuskers should still be able to score consistently against the Hawkeyes’ defense, giving this game a good chance to creep Over the number.

What seed is Missouri basketball in latest March Madness projections?

Updated March 3, 2026, 12:35 p.m. CT

Mizzou got hot at just the right time, and now all of the major national projections have the Tigers in the March Madness field.

The question now is more or less what seed Missouri basketball will be when the NCAA Tournament field is announced. After wins over then-No. 22 Tennessee and Mississippi State last week, the Tigers (20-9, 10-6 SEC) are looking good for a Selection Sunday shoutout.

Mizzou will face Oklahoma on Tuesday night on the road, before rounding out the regular season with Arkansas on Saturday at Mizzou Arena. With back-to-back wins, the Tigers guarantee a 3-seed and double-bye in the SEC Tournament.

Here’s what Missouri’s current tournament résumé looks like, and a glimpse at where the experts currently have the Tigers seeded and tabbed to travel for March Madness. All of the outlets’ projections were updated on the morning of Tuesday, March 3:

Current Missouri basketball NCAA Tournament résumé for 2026 March Madness

Missouri’s NET ranking: No. 53

Quad 1 record: 5-6

Quad 2 record: 5-3

Quad 3 record: 2-0

Quad 4 record: 8-0

Missouri has moved up five spots in the NET rankings and is now No. 53 nationally after its win over Mississippi State.

The quadrant system accounts for the location of the game and the opposing team’s NET ranking. Quad 1 games, for instance, are at home against teams ranked Nos. 1-30 in the NET, on a neutral court against teams ranked Nos. 1-50, and on the road against teams ranked Nos. 1-75.

Both of Mizzou’s remaining games are Quad 1 matchups. Oklahoma, which MU faces Tuesday night on the road, is ranked No. 62 in the NET, and Arkansas is No. 19.

ESPN: Missouri basketball a 9-seed vs Clemson in San Diego

ESPN has moved Missouri up another seed line between games, now projecting that the Tigers will be on the 9-line in the Big Dance. In Joe Lunardi’s most-recent bracket, Mizzou faces an 8-seeded Clemson in San Diego, California.

The other two teams in the bracket are 1-seed Arizona and 16-seed Tennessee State. The team that advances from this part of the bracket would go to San Jose, California, to play in the Sweet 16.

CBS Sports: Ben McCollum rematch for Missouri basketball

Him again?

CBS Sports also has Mizzou as a 9-seed in its latest bracket projections, but the outlet has the Tigers taking on 8-seeded Iowa in the Round of 64. Iowa is coached by Ben McCollum, who led Drake to a first-round win over Missouri last season before being hired by the Hawkeyes.

No. 1 Duke would be the likely team waiting for the winner in this projection. That’s hardly the friendliest draw, all things considered.

USA Today: Tigers a 10-seed in OKC

After spending a couple weeks on the outside looking in, Mizzou has moved into the field in USA Today’s newest bracket projection. As of Tuesday morning, the Tigers are listed as a 10-seed, with a trip to Oklahoma City on deck to face 7-seeded Saint Mary’s in the Round of 64.

In this forecast, the winner likely would next see a 2-seeded Iowa State.

Bart Torvik: Best at-large chance to date

We mentioned over the weekend that Mizzou had almost certainly booked its spot in the field with its dominant win over Mississippi State, which marked a 20th win on the year and 10th win in SEC play.

The analytics site Bart Torvik is backing that up.

Torvik currently gives Mizzou a 95.9% chance to make the NCAA Tournament as of Feb. 27, which is based on 10,000 simulations run through its T-Ranketology ‘TourneyCast’ projections. That’s the best outlook yet this season for Missouri.

The odds are up from 78.1% this past Friday, before the Tigers’ win at Mississippi State, which sealed a sixth win in eight games for Dennis Gates’ team.

If we stretch Torvik’s simulations out into a bracket, that makes Mizzou a 9-seed.
