Texas A&M DL Jadon Scarlett reportedly retires from football

Texas A&M’s 2026 roster will not include one of its longtime reserve defensive linemen. GigEm247 beat writer Carter Karels confirmed DL Jadon Scarlett is no longer on the roster and has reportedly medically retired from football. However, Scarlett has not yet confirmed this report.

Through three seasons (2023-2025), Scarlett played 27 snaps, including 25 on defense and two on special teams. During his final season, the former three-star prospect played six snaps during the Aggies’ blowout win over Samford, finishing with one tackle. Scarlett’s lack of playing time was primarily due to the talent in front of him, which would continue to be the case in the 2026 campaign.

Before the retirement announcement, Scarlett had two seasons of eligibility remaining, and he could have found a new home through the transfer portal if he wanted to. While this does not affect the Aggies’ overall depth, it’s interesting to note Scarlett was one of three players left from A&M’s historic 2022 recruiting class. Starting center Mark Nabou and likely starting nickel Bryce Anderson are the last two players remaining from the cycle.
