‘Chicote’ will become a player for América after passing through Chivas
The homegrown Azulcrema explained that carrying an indiscipline can affect the club’s image
Juan Carlos ‘Torito’ Silva, former player of América, and product of the basic forces of that team, does not agree with the arrival of Cristian ‘Chicote’ Calderón from Chivas to the Azulcrema team for the Clausura 2024.
The former Azulcrema player, who debuted at 18 years old and a year later scored a double against Chivas, criticized the arrival of the left-back to the Águilas, as he stated that there are players in the academy with a better level.
“Personally, I feel that no, first because he comes from his club with an indiscipline and I feel that this image can affect a club like América. Second, because in the academy there are players who can have that level and much more,” Silva mentioned to RÉCORD.
When asked about the decision of the board to bet on Cristian Calderón, he confessed that it is a lack of respect for the fans; however, he also stated that times change and now it is more common for American players to defend the Chivas shirt and vice versa.
“And if disrespect is shown to the fans, yes, it is increasingly common for an América player to go to Chivas and from Chivas to América, the truth is that it disrespects the fans, the club, the shirt. We know that times change and that it is increasingly different and we will see this more often,” he confessed.
On the other hand, he did not miss the opportunity to emphasize that there is more than enough talent in the Nido de Coapa, and that he prefers to give the opportunity to players who are formed from the heart of the América club.
“There are many homegrown players of great quality who can be like him or better, much better than those born in the club,” he concluded.
