Jorge Fossati, nuevo técnico de la selección peruana, restó polémica a un posible enfrentamiento contra Chile al mando de Ricardo Gareca

Jorge Fossati, the new coach of the Peruvian national team, played down the controversy of a possible confrontation against Chile under Ricardo Gareca if the former coach of the bicolor decides to lead La Roja, Peru’s classic rival.

The Uruguayan coach spoke out about this as he left the country to spend the end-of-year holidays with his family, from the Jorge Chavez airport.

“He is a person I respect and care for a lot, even though we have never been colleagues anywhere, he is one of the colleagues with whom I feel sympathy, I think it is the empathy that we both have,” started saying the Uruguayan.

“I never play against anyone one-on-one, the day we have to play against Chile it will be Peru – Chile, not just anyone against anyone,” he added.

The question came to the White and Red coach due to the interest of the ANFP in hiring Ricardo Gareca. Peru and Chile are in Group A of the 2024 Copa America in the United States, along with Argentina and Canada or Trinidad and Tobago.
